Hardgrove's factory, and immediately laid hold of him and informed him that he was under arrest.
Soon afterwards, Foster Jerked away from the officer, and, jumping down an embankment, started off in the direction of the Deck; but he had not gone for before he was and failing to stop, was then fired at with a the ball entering just under his left shoulder and lodging in his things.
The wounded was immediately to the
North Carolina (
Moore) Hospital, where he received medical siltation.
Up to a late hour yesterday afternoon he was still slire, though his day there is the chance of his recovery.
It is stated that
Foster was at one time a member of the Fifty-dath
Virginia regiment, and is a native of one of the adjoining counties to this city.
Captain Carter, of the
night watch, arrested
Williams soon after the occurrence, and brought him before the
Recorder yesterday morning; but it appearing that both parties were solders,
Foster being an alleged describer and
Williams a detailed conscript acting under military orders, the case was turned over to the military authorities.
