The Soup-House.

--The City Soup-House went into operation on yesterday, and over eighty gallons of excellent soup were distributed to the poor. The establishment is excellently arranged in the basement of Metropolitan Hall, and every attention is paid to cleanliness and order. This is decidedly the most important charity that has been set on foot during the war. By it, the poor are supplied with clean, rich soup, composed of beef shin, potatoes, turnips, cabbage, carrots, onions, rice, etc, at twenty five cents a quart. The same food cannot be procured and prepared by an individual at a less cost than five dollars a quart.
