Attempting to cross the lines.

--The following negroes were arrested yesterday and committed to Castle Thunder on the charge of attempting to make their way to the enemy's lines: John, slave of Edward Folkes, and Thomas H. Uriah and Alpheus Christian, free negroes, and James Woolfolk, also free. These parties were arrested on the Charles City road late on Sunday night, and before their capture was effected, one of the party, the father of the Christians, was shot at and killed.
