A.Persian bonnet or hat, with a peaked crown, prob. much like the τιάρα (q.v.), Hdt.5.49, 7.64; ὥσπερ βασιλεὺς μέγας διαβάσκει ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς τὴν κ. τῶν ὀρνίθων μόνος ὀρθήν (sc. ἀλεκτρυών) Ar.Av.487 (cf. Sch.); a cover for a poultice for a woman's breast is compared to it in shape, Hp.Mul.2.186, cf. Aret.CA1.10.
