On a statue of Archilochus.

The metre is ll. 1 and 4 Archilochian (cf. Epig. 20), ll. 2 and 5 iambic trimeter, ll. 3 and 6 iambic trimeter catalectic.

στᾶθι καὶ εἴσιδε the first verb is interposed in the construction, Xen. Hellen. vii. 3 “ὑμεῖς τοὺς περὶ ᾿Αρχίαν οὐ ψῆφον ἀνεμείνατε ἀλλὰ ἐτιμωρήσασθε.”
