Seamer scarce at Buffalo, N. Y.

--The work of fitting out vessels is going on very actively at the port of Buffalo, N. Y., and riggers, carpenters, caulkers and painters are in much demand. Seamen are scarce, several crews having been taken to the Walland Canal, where several American vessels were frozen in last fall. Wages are $25 per month, and at least 200 seamen could find immediate employment at that price. All the sail-lofts are full of work, and are employing all the hands they can get.
