military--East Tennessee, &c.
Rose Hill, Lee Co., Va., July 16th, 1861.
I see in giving a list of the companies in Gen. Floyd's Brigade, you put Capt. Vandeventer's company from Amherst county--it should be Lee county.
We have four companies in the field from this county and one other organized, which will leave on the 18th to join Col. John Campbell's Regiment at Abingdon, and one other company nearly completed.
We have had a good deaf of excitement here in relation to the Union feeling in East Tennessee, and the threatened rebellion, &c. I have seen a good many persons from different sections of East Tennessee, and from what I can learn, I do not think that the Union men will sustain the leaders in their rebellious move.
A great majority, so far as I can learn say these are willing to submit.
If the tory Johnson should attempt to bring forces through Cumberland Gap, or arms, he will meet with a warm reception. B.
