A letter from Newark N. C., dated the 08th of May, save the Yankee soldiers are dying at the rate of twenty-five a day. The same letter says a Yankee officer of high rank was lately killed in a picket skirmish.

The New York Herald says that General McClellan was struck by a place of shell in the battle of Williamsburg, but was not injured.
