A French brig of war captured a small Mexican schooner, laden with corn and lard, and the crew were imprisoned at Vera Crus. The Mexican steamer Constitution had been manned and sent to Alvarado to force the Governor to declare for Almontel but the inhabitants refused, and drove the steamer off.
