It is pretty generally conceded that Lieut. Governor Montague has beaten Mr. Garnett in the first district, and that Mr. Whitfield has been elected in the 2d district. In the 8th district it is now thought that Mr Barbour has defeated Mr. Dejarnette in the 12th Mr. Edmundson is thought to be elected over Mr. Staples, present therlin is probably elected in the Pittsylvania District, and — Peters in the Smyth District. The result in the District composed of Henrico and Hanover is still in doubt. The 10th Va Cavalry gives J N Davis 26 majority, and his election over Dr Garnett is claimed. In the District composed of Jefferson and Berkeley, Edwin L Moore is believed to be elected.
