Sent to the Penitentiary --The time of Judge Lyons's Court was occupied yesterday in the trial of a young man named Thomas Linton, who was charged with feloniously appropriating to his own use $200 belonging to Mrs. Elizabeth Ansker. The evidence was of such a character as to induce the belief that the defendant was under the influence of intoxicating liquor when he committed the offence for which be was arraigned. The jury after hearing the testimony, brought in a verdict of guilty, and assessed his term of confinement at two years. Linton's fall may be traced directly to the inordinate use of ardent spirits. He enjoyed some local notoriety as a person of erratic mind, and was of so feminine an appearance as to have been arrested several times in this and other cities as a woman disguised in men's clothing.
