arkesburg or not, I did not learn. Doubtless you will soon see in the Northern papers a brilliant victory announced at Ripley. What their force at Parkersburg is I am unable to say. Fortunately, Gen. Garnett demands all their attention at Phillippi, and I have no doubt Parkersburg is held only as securing them the railroad, and not as a base of operation in this direction. Wise.--They are from Roane county, and one (Col. S. Ar Roberts) was a member of the Wheeling Convention. They will be handed over to the civil authorities, and indicted for treason, with a count under the new ordinance of the 15th June last. Scouts are out for more such game. L.
