The spirit of the South. --While the guns of the enemy are booming within a few miles of Richmond, and a gallant army stands like a "Stonewall," ready contest has advance; while immense preparation are progressing for an attack upon the large seaboard cities, and the inhabitants are silently a waiting, confident in the strength of our arms and the justice of our cause; it has been reserved for Mississippi, the young "Volunteer State" of this war, to give practical illustration to the spirit of the South.
