Captain — In obedience to circular from division headquarters, I have the honor to submit the following report of the operations of the Stonewall brigade at the battle of Gettysburg, and subsequently until it recrossed the Potomac:
On the evening of the 1st July the brigade, with the rest of the division, arrived at Gettysbur and efficient conduct of Major William Terry, commanding the Fourth Virginia, who gallantly led his regiment almost to the breastworks of the enemy, and only retired after losing the fourth of his command.
