Murfreesboro', Dec. 29.
--There has been no general engagement to-day, although there has been heavy skirmishing in front of our entire line.
Wheeler's and Wharton's cavalry were warmly engaged all day. The two lines are now in sight of each other, and the enemy are advancing in splendid line of battle.
The fight will certainly begin to-morrow.
The Federal are in greater force than was at first intimated.
They are now within three miles of Murfreesboro, and it is thought they will demand the surrender of the place to-morrow morning.
Our army is confidently awaiting their approach.
Twenty five prisoners belonging to the 4th Ohio cavalry were brought in this evening.
It is rumored that Gen. John Morgan is now at Russellville, Ky.
