In Martial Array, with colors flying, prancing steeds, and tightened reins, a most splendid battalion of Cavalry passed through several of our streets yesterday. The sight was the most beautiful and inspiring one which the war has brought before our eyes. We thought of the six hundred who rode into the "Valley of Death" during the Crimean war, and were immortalized by Tennyson — of Job's war-horse, which snuffed the battle afar off — of McDonald and Selim — and of all the "pride and pomp and circumstance of glorious war, which make ambition virtue."
