Desertion and insanity. --One of the most distressing cases that we have ever had occasion to notice, was brought before the May or on Saturday last. We allude to a young woman, badly dressed and covered in dirt, who had been arrested on charge of insanity. Some twelve or eighteen months ago, this poor creature, then the handsome, educated, intelligent and accomplished daughter of a wealthy gentleman in Southwestern Virginia, became the bride of a miserable adventurer, against the wishes and entreaties of her parents, and leaving home and its comforts, started out in the world to brave its storms with the man of her choice.
