Ascŭlum

1.

Picēnum, the chief town of Picenum, and a Roman municipium, was destroyed by the Romans in the Social War (B.C. 89), but was afterwards rebuilt.

2.

Apŭlum, a town of Apulia in Daunia, on the confines of Samnium, near which Pyrrhus defeated the Romans in the year B.C. 279.
