Lagōna, Lagūna, Lagoena

or Lagēna (λάγυνος). An earthenware jar having a long, narrow neck, a rather wide mouth and a swelling body, with one handle. It was used for wine and was set on the table like a modern decanter (Juv.v. 29), and in Gaul for beer.
