AGA´SO

AGA´SO a groom, a slave whose business it was to take care of the horses. (Plaut. Mere. 5.2, 11; Liv. 43.5; Plin. Nat. 35.134.) The word is also used for a driver of beasts of burthen (Apul. Met. 6.100.18, 7.100.18), and is sometimes applied to a slave who had to perform the lowest menial duties, (Hor. Serm. 2.8, 72; Pers. 5.76.)
