CELNIUS
CELNIUS (
Κέλνιος), in Britain, mentioned by Ptolemy (
2.3.5), between the Tuasis aestuary (
Τούαισις εἴσχυσις) and the Taezalum Promontory.
The former of these is next in order southwards to the Varar aestuary (
Murray Firth), the latter is to the north of the Deva (
Dee). Hence the
Spey is the likeliest equivalent to the Celnius.
