GAESUS

GAESUS, GESSUS (Γαίσων), a small river in Ionia, near Mount Mycale and the town of Priene. (Plin. Nat. 5.31; Mela, 1.17; comp. Hdt. 9.97.) Athenaeus (vii. p. 311) observes that Gaeson or Gaesonis was, according to some, a lake between Priene and Miletus, which had a communication with the sea.
