SUEL

SUEL (Σοῦελ, Ptol. 2.4 § 7), a town of Hispania Baetica, on the road from Malaca to Gades. [p. 2.1043]Itin. Ant, p. 405.) According to inscriptions it was a Roman municipium in which libertini had been settled. (Reines. pp. 13, 131; Spon, Miscell. v. p. 189; Orelli, Inscr. no. 3914; Mela, 2.6; Plin. Nat. 3.1. s. 3.) It is the modern Fuengirola. (Inscr. in Aldrete, Orig. Ling. Cast. 1.2.)
