Organized at New York City and mustered in for two years service June 17, 1861.

Left State for Washington, D. C., June 29.

Duty as Infantry in the Defenses of that city till October, 1861.

Attached to McCune's Brigade July 30 to August 4, 1861.

Franklin's Brigade, Division of the Potomac, to September 26, and to Newton's Brigade to November, 1861.

Designation of Regiment changed to 15th New York Engineers October 25, 1861.
