Distinguished Marriage

--The French painter Paul is about to marry the daughter of the wealthy Paris jeweler, Edward Handle, a Jew. The dowry is to be three million francs (six hundred thousand dollars), and the bride is to become a Roman Catholic on the day after the wedding. Cardinal Morion, Archbishop of Paris, is to officiate at the ceremony, and Paris is alive with expectation.
