Without a license.

--A. Louse, a German keeping a saloon on Broad street, was before the Mayor on Saturday charged with having a billiard table over his bar-room at which the game is played, without a license. Louse protested his ignorance of the law governing such games, when the Mayor informed him if he would go immediately to the Chamberlain and procure a license, and bring it to him, he would thereby be influenced with regard to the amount of fine he should impose on him. This he did, and was dismissed with simply the payment of the costs incurred in the case.
