Mrs. Bacon was married to Rev. Thomas L. Lathrop, a Unitarian minister, in 1862.
She died April 7, 1900, shortly after the death of her second husband.
Those who knew her say that she was a gentlewoman of the old school, in the best sense of the term.
A small oil painting by her son Henry shows her with refined and gentle face, her dark hair crowned with a small cap, sitting with hands quietly folded, as if in a habitual attitude of reverie.
