C.); Ion. ὁκόσος ; Cret. and Boeot. ὁπόττος Leg.Gort.4.40, al., IG7.522.19 (iii B. C.), etc.: correlat. to πόσος: freq. in IG12, but replaced by ὅσος in Att. Inscrr. after 300 B.C. :
2. of Quantity, as much as, of Size or Space, as great as, ὁπόσσον ἐπέσχε as far as it spread, Il.23.238 ; χθόνα . . , ὁπόσαν καὶ φθιμένοισιν κατέχειν as much as is allowed the dead to occupy, A.
