A.of or from a sheep, διφθέραι sheep-skins, Hdt.5.58 ; “τυροί” SIG1027.13 (Cos): hence ὀέα (q. v.) and οἰίας (with dial. change of -εα- to -ία-）: τῶν προβάτων τὰ σκεπαστήρια δέρματα (leather coats for sheep, brats), Hsch. (Skt. avyáyas, Adj. from ávis = ὄϝις 'sheep'.)
