I.the torch - bearer.—Plur.: dādūchi , the priests of Ceres (Demeter) at Eleusis, who guided the initiated with torches to the temple on the fifth day of the Mysteries, Front. Ep. ad Verr. 1; Fabrett. Inscr. 676, no. 29.
