Suessa Pometia

also called Pometia simply. An ancient and important town of the Volsci in Latium, south of Forum Appii, taken by Tarquinius Priscus. It was one of the twenty-three cities situated in the plain afterwards covered by the Pomptine Marshes, which are said indeed to have derived their name from this town.
