Grampius Mons

A mountain of Caledonia, forming one of a large range of mountains extending from east to west through almost the whole breadth of modern Scotland, from Loch Lomond to Stonehaven. The range is now called the Grampian Hills, and the name is derived from the Mons Grampius, which is mentioned by Tacitus as the spot where Galgacus waited the approach of Agricola (Agric. 29). Some scholars defend Graupius as the proper form.
