Glaucus

（*Glau=kos), of Carystus, the son of Demylos, was one of the most celebrated Grecian athletes. He was a περιοδονίκης, having gained one Olympic, two Pythian, eight Nemean, and eight Isthmian victories in boxing. It is said that while stilt a boy, he refixed a ploughshare which had dropped out of its place by the allows of his fist, without the help of a hammer. His state at Olympia was made by GLAUCIAS of Aegina. (Müller, Aeginet. 3.4. p. 103; Krause, Olymp. p. 292.)

In the article on Soranus, we find: "at this present time (1848)" and this date seems to reflect the dates of works cited. 1873 - probably the printing date.
