Patareus

Παταρεύς), a surname of Apollo, derived from the Lycian town of Patara, where he had an oracle, and where, according to Servius (Serv. ad Aen. 4.143), the god used to spend the six winter months in every year. (Hor. C(arin. 3.4. 64; Lycoph. 920; Hdt. 1.162; Strab. xiv. p.665, &c.; Paus. 9.41.1.)
