Valens, Ma'nlius

legatus of a legion in Britain in the reign of Claudius, A. D. 50. He is afterwards mentioned as the legatus of the Italica legion in the civil wars in A. D. 69, and is probably the same as the C. Manlius Valens, who was consul with C. Antistius Vetus in the last year of Domitian's reign, and who died in the same year in the ninetieth year of his age. (Tac. Ann. 12.40, Hist. 1.64; D. C. 67.14.)
