Van Dyke, Henry 1852-

Educator; born in Germantown, Pa., Nov. 10, 1852; graduated at Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute in 1869, Princeton College in 1873, Princeton Theological Seminary in 1877, and Berlin University in 1878. He was pastor of the United Congregational Church, Newport, R. I., in 1878, and of the Brick Presbyterian Church, New York, in 1883-1900; and became Professor of English Literature in Princeton University in 1900. He wrote The National sin of literary piracy; The poetry of Tennyson; The story of the other wise man, etc.
