The Twenty-third Regiment Virginia Volunteers, of which Capt. Tompkins' Richmond Sharp-Shooters formed a part, were to have started yesterday evening on the railroad for a post of danger and duty. We wish them all a safe return, and glorious success while away. As the saying is, 'tis not in mortal men to command success; but they will do better; they will deserve it, whoever they may encounter.
