--We learn that on Saturday night last, about 9 o'clock, a strange looking craft made her appearance off one of the batteries on the coast, and on being hailed made no reply, when two blank shot were fired at her from the battery. She immediately extinguished her lights and put to sea, when a ball was fired, but with what damage it is not known. Her presence in that locality, and at such a time, could be attributed to nothing else than taking soundings. --Savannah Republican 3d
