συννέφ-ω , pf. συννένοφα:—
A.collect clouds, “Ζεὺς ξυννέφει” Ar.Av.1502; “ς. τὸ περιέχον” Plu.2.641d: impers. συννέφει, it is cloudy, “εἰ συννέφει, εἰκὸς ὁ̂σαι” Arist.Rh.1393a6; “ξυννένοφε” Ar.Fr. 46.
2. trans., συννεφεῖν (leg. -νέφειν）“ νεφέλας ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν” LXX Ge.9.14.
II. metaph. of persons, συννέφουσαν ὄμματα wearing a dark and gloomy look, E.El.1078; “κύψασα κάτω καὶ ξυννενοφυῖα βαδίζει” Ar.Fr.395 (anap.), cf. Philostr.VS1.18.1; “ἐπερωτηθεὶς διὰ τί συννένοφε” D.C.55.11.
2. to be under a cloud, in adversity, opp. εὐτυχεῖν, E.Fr.330.7. (συννεφεῖ, etc., codd., corr. Cobet.)
