A Coroner's Jury, presided over by Dr. Thomas, Deputy Coroner, held an inquest yesterday, on the body of Albert, a slave, who had been in the employ of the Virginia Central Railroad Company, and rendered the following verdict: ‘"That he came to his death on the afternoon of the 2d instant, having received severe punishment at the hands of Charles Murphy, an overseer of the above company, during the day, he having been also punished during the morning at the public whipping-post; but, from the evidence before them, the jurors are not prepared to say that the punishment inflicted was the immediate cause of death." ’
