[Southern Association dispatches.]
from North Carolina.

Wilmington, N. C., Jan. 23.
--The vessel ashore at the month of New river turns out to be the schooner Bixey, from Nassan with a cargo of salt. She was chased ashore by Yankee steamers. Her crew will be saved though the vessel and cargo will probably be lost.

It has been ascertained that the Yankee force near Jacksonville, N. C., consists of two and a half regiments of infantry, six hundred cavalry, and six pieces of artillery, the whole under the command of Col. Emory. They have attempted no forward movement as yet.
