Insulting a Female. --Peter Kennedy was brought before the Recorder yesterday, charged with insulting the wife of Donald Key. The proof did not sustain the allegation to the extent required by law, and Peter, like the ancient of that name, was "rebuked" and discharged.
He was at a fence firing away at the enemy, when a cannon ball took off the two top rails. He stooped a little lower, and continued to return the compliment with his Minnie. Little Charley Turner, a boy about fifteen years of age, insisted so strongly on going with the Augusta Guard that his father finally yielded to his importunities, and all wed him to go. The result shown that little Charley went to perform service, for he made one of the enemy bite the dust. A correspondent of the same paper says: Our men were fighting under a heavy fire all the time, and it is wonderfully remarkable that our loss was not much greater, only two killed, and three or four missing. The balls were whisting all around us, and shells bursting over our heads all the time. We had three of the West Augusta Guard slightly wounded — Jack Doyle, Kennedy and Maphia — who were sent to Winchester. The boys fought like Trojans, and never fell back till commanded two or three times to do so
Discharged. --The following parties were examined by the Mayor yesterday and discharged: Peter Kennedy and Matt. Caval charged with threatening to shoot Mary Sullivan.--Henry Howe, charged with larceny and being a suspicious person.--Wesley Lowry charged with attempting to stab Mike Ashle

Sent down. --The following parties were sent to jail temporarily by the Mayor yesterday, on failure to give security, viz: Peter Kennedy, Tim Barns, Peter Hughes, Wm. O'Neale, Patrick Donahoe and Timothy Mann. The parties were charged with disorderly conduct, superinduced by bad liquor.
Mayor's Court. --This tribunal seems to have fallen into "sere and yellow leaf." Yesterday the few cases brought to the attention of his Honor were continued. We subjoin a list of the criminals and the offences charged against them. John H. Gatewood and C. H. Althizer, accomplices in a murder; M. La Truitte and W. Duke, having no visible means of support; Peter Kennedy, for threatening and instigating Michael Kennedy to set fire to the house of Geo. W. Graff; John Doyle, breaking open Patrick Holland's trunk and stealing $75 in bankable funds.
f the Commonwealth. Patrick Conley, charged with assaulting officer Caleb Crone, in the watch house, while in the performance of his duty, was required to give $300 surety to keep the peace. James G. Davis, charged with assaulting Julius G. Lewis, in a lager-beer saloon, corner of 9th and Main sts., on Wednesday night, was required to give $300 peace surety, and the same amount to appear before the grand jury to answer. Jacob Sauldeck charged with fighting and drawing a pistol on N. B. New, of the Provost Guard, was required to give $300 surety to the peace. Peter Kennedy and Charles E. Moore, charged with being drunk and disorderly, were required to find surety in $200 each. Charles, a slave, charged with stealing ten loaves of bread from the Worlds Hospital, at which he is employed, was ordered 25 lashes. Peter, slave of Nat King, charged with stealing $48.50 from John Stewart, in the 2d market, yesterday morning, was sent on for further examination.
Mayor's Court, April 27. --Peter Kennedy was examined for stealing a herring seine from A. E. Tucker, of the value of $50. He was sent before the Hustings Court for further examination. The examination of Michael Murphy, on the charge of violently assaulting and beating Peter Harmon, was continued until the 18th inst. John Branley was committed until the 28th, on the charge of assaulting Catherine Burke in her own house, and annoying the neighborhood in which he lived. Woodson, slave of George Duggan, charged with stealing 300 pounds of beacon from Frederick Weidmeyer, was committed until the 29th for a further hearing. John, slave of John Stewart, was whipped for stealing one pig, of the value of $70, from Augustus Black. The case of Miss Laura Gordon, charged with being engaged in the recent riot, was party heard, and continued for other evidence. Interfering with the Jewish worship. --Peter Kennedy and John Blankinship, white boys, and John West, colored, were arrested on Friday afternoon last for disturbing the Israelites in their religions worship. The Recorder dismissed the parties the some good advice.
