The Fort Donelson prisoners in Illinois
We copy the following from the Chicago Times, of April 15th:
But two deaths occurred among the prisoners on Monday.
Their names are James A Cottrell, Company C, Fourteenth Mississippi, J. H. Truman, Company B, Twentieth Mississippi.

Another shooting occurred last Monday which resulted in the death of a young man named Riley, belonging to the Tenth Tennessee.
It appears that he was a desperate character, and inclined to set Federal authority at defiance, which has proved disastrous to him, as well as many others before him. Being anxious to escape from Uncle Sam's clutches, and supposing the sentinels would not dare to shoot — his experience at Fort Donelson ought to have taught him differently — he made an attempt some time during Monday night to pass the lines; he succeeded in passing two or three of the sent
