Capt. Washington Gwathney. --This gentleman, a native of Richmond, was for a long period one of the most efficient officers of the U. S. Navy. Since the dissolution of the Union he has devoted himself arduously to the advancement of the Southern cause, and we expect to hear of many deeds of gallantry performed by him before the close of the war. He is now in command of the gunboat Jackson, (formerly the "Yankee,") in connection with Gen. Polk's forces at Columbus, Ky.
