Council. --The first meeting of the newly-elected Council was held at 4 o'clock, yesterday evening, at the City Hall. Present: Messrs. Saunders, Grattan, Crutchfield, Glazebrook, Hill, Burr. Griffin, Talbott, Denoon, Scott, Greanor, Wynne, Epps, Stokes, and Haskins. Mr. Crutchfield presented a petition from the Professor of the Medical College of Virginia calling the attention of the Council to the propriety of grading and otherwise improving Marshall street, from 12th to College sto examine the same and ascertain what amendments or changes therein are necessary; and that the said committee be authorized to report by bill or otherwise.--[Adopted.] Committee--Messrs.
