μεσόδμη , ἡ, (δέμω, cf. EM581.5) Att. μεσόμνη IG22.1668.48, 53:—
A.tie-beam, “τοῖχοι μεγάρων καλαί τε μεσόδμαι” Od.19.37, cf. 20.354 (expld. by Aristarch. as = μεσόστυλα, by others as τὰ μεταξὺ τῶν δοκῶν διαστήματα, cf. Hsch.); “κρεμάσαι χρὴ τὸν ἄνθρωπον τῶν ποδῶν πρὸς μεσόδμην” Hp.Art.70; expld. as “τὸ μέγα ξύλον ἀπὸ τοῦ ἑτέρου τοίχου πρὸς τὸν ἕτερον διῆκον” Gal. ad Hp.l.c. (18(1).738), cf. IGll. cc., SIG 248 N8 (Delph., iv B. C.), Q.S.13.451.
2. box amidships, in which the mast was stepped, “ἱστὸν . . κοίλης ἔντοσθε μεσόδμης στῆσαν ἀείραντες” Od.2.424.
