A.that which is over and above, esp. that which remains after the digestion of food, either as a secretion or an excretion, defined as τὸ τῆς τροφῆς ὑπόλειμμα, Arist.GA724b26, cf. Epicur.Fr.293, Meno Iatr.4.35, Diocl.Fr.141, Plu.2.130a, etc.; “ταῦτα δὲ [τὰ π.] ἐστὶ κόπρος, φλέγμα, χολή” Arist.HA511b9; also of hair and nails, Jul.Or.6.189b.
