προπηλα^κ-ίζω , Att. fut.
A.-ιῶTh.6.54: (apparently from πήλαξ = πηλός, though neither πήλαξ nor the simple πηλακίζω certainly existed): —bespatter with mud, or trample in the mire: only metaph., treat with contumely,τοὐμὸν στόμαS.OT427, cf.Ar.Th.386(Pass.); freq. in Att. Prose, Th. l. c., And.4.16, Pl.R.562d, etc.:—Pass., Lys.15.6, etc.; “ἰδὼν προπεπηλακισμένην [τὴν φιλοσοφίαν] ἀναξίωςPl.R.536c; “προπηλακισθέντες λόγοις καὶ ἀτίμοις ἔργοιςId.Lg.866e; “ὑβρίζετο καὶ προὐπηλακίζεθ᾽ ὑπὸ τοῦ δήμουD.9.60.
