A.bearing a grudge, spiteful, malignant, “στύγος” A.Ch.392 (lyr.); of the Erinyes, ib.924,1054; “φθόνος” AP7.40 (Diod.). Adv. -τως“, ἔχειν” Ph.2.520.
II. Subst. ἔγκοτος, ὁ, grudge, “ἔγκοτον ἔχειν τινί” Hdt.3.59, 9.110; τινός for a thing, Id.8.29; “διά τι” Id.6.73, cf. 133; also ἔγκοτον, τό, D.H.9.7.
