Aeŏles

or Aeolii. One of the chief branches of the Hellenic race, and supposed to be descended from Aeolus, son of Hellen. (See Aeolus.) They originally lived in Thessaly, subsequently spread over various parts of Greece, and also settled in Aeolis in Asia Minor, and in Lesbos (q.v.).
